Pissed, but….
So, Megaupload got shut down.
I’m pissed about that. But only for a little bit because I’ll find my downloads elsewhere pretty easily.
However, I’m pleased because this shows that current copyright laws are effective. As much as it pains me to say that because it has directly impacted the way I use the internet. But let’s be honest, I shouldn’t be downloading illegal stuff anyway. HOWEVER the powers that be and their business models aren’t very user/internet friendly to begin with. I’ll show you plenty of legal services I pay for because they’ve figured out how to use the internet to distribute entertainment to masses instead of locking it down and forcing users to watch live tv or pay obscene amounts of money on movie tickets.
The point is current copyright laws are effective as today’s shut down proves and there is no need for SOPA. However, we all know how this will play out. This will be used to support the SOPA movement completely ignoring the fact that this move was made without SOPA.
